Korean Best Face "Ulzzang"~

Now, this is the post that needed much times for me to make it. But now I decide to post it here. This is really special for me cause I really like "Ulzzang"

Now, enjoy ..

The word 'Ulzzang' is a Korean slang which originates from the word 'Ulgeul' meaning face, hence the 'Ul' and 'Zzang' a slang for 'best' in Korean. Ulzzang basically means you have the best face or an attractive face.

Description

Uljjang, also spelled as Ulzzang (Korean pronunciation: 얼짱), is a popular South Korean term literally meaning "best face" or "good-looking".
Many uljjangs have entered the Korean entertainment business and some have risen to stardom. The practice originated in South Korea and is mainly found in Korea, China and Japan, but can also be found in Taiwan, the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Eoljjang, also spelled as Uljjang or ulzzang (UHL-JANG), is a popular South Korean term literally meaning “best face” or “good-looking”. A slang often used by citizens, contests competing for the title of uljjang is held online. Many uljjangs have entered the Korean entertainment business, and some have risen to stardom. They originated in South Korea, and are mainly found in South Korea, China and Japan, but can also be found in North America and Europe. They are often thought of as Asia’s scene kids, because they have teased hair, the make focus of the make-up is the eyes; they take many pictures and edit them and have the same stereotypical poses. Many ulzzang wannabes post up their pictures on various websites, voting & chatting can be done on many of them. Contests, both online and in real life, are often used to pick the best ulzzangs, but u don’t necessarily need to enter/win. Some ulzzangs, however, have not relied solely on the internet. For example, some have gained popularity at school for being attractive. Most ulzzangs, do use the internet to share their photos, & that’s how many become popular.
2 most known -zzang categories:
01. Ulzzang/얼짱: Based on the face. 얼굴 (ŏlgul) means “face” in Korean.
02. Momzzang/몸짱: Based on the body. 몸 (mom) means “body” in Korean.
“Ulzzang” with “zz” is the most common way it’s written out in English on ulzzang websites. Variations on romanization include eoljjang, uhljjang, uljjang, and so on.

Characteristics

Most uljjangs share similar features. They usually have big eyes (the main focus), a high nose bridge and fair light skin. Even though in Korean the term uljjang means "best face," it is not necessary to meet all of these standards. However, most actors or actresses opted for plastic surgery to meet its standards. Some families even give vouchers or save up money for their children for plastic surgery. Among some of the most popular plastic surgeries would be East Asian blepharoplasty (also called "double eyelid surgery") andrhinoplasty to enhance the look of the nose to fit a more "western" image. Other surgeries would also include cheek reduction surgery, jaw surgery, and calf reduction surgery.

Fashion

There are a few style trends that are followed, among the most popular are; The F.O.B (fresh off the boat) style which includes a lot of layering, and the Himegyaru style( "Hime" meaning "princess" and "gyaru" meaning "type of woman") adopted from Japanese fashion.

 Accessories

Ulzzangs must have a clean, blemish-free face that requires a near obsessive skincare routine. Ulzzangs desire "doll-like" eyes and wear circle lenses to make their eyes appear larger. Other accessories include glasses and false eyelashes.
All uljjangs share similar features such as big eyes “the main focus” or concept of the look (as in doll eyes with long eyelashes and cute anime characteristics), high nose bridge, fair skin, etc. Circle lenses are known to be popular with most uljjangs.
